Mountain biking is a wonderful tool that people of all ages can use to build  their self esteem, appreciation for the natural world, physical health and bonds with peers. A few of the kids from our weekly rides have gone on to become champion bike racers and they have all gone on to live physically active life styles and love the outdoors.

Our Story

Mulholland Mountain Biking LLC is a business built with the goal of helping people ride mountain bikes. We offer weekly group rides for youth and can support anyone from new riders to accomplished racers. We use our experience to help you and your loved ones grow and develop while working to decrease the inherent risks that come with our sport.

Why the name?

While my last name is Mulholland and I am the founder of Mulholland Mountain Biking, it did not start with me and the company is not named after me. Mulholland Mountain Biking is named after Owen Mulholland, my dad. My coaching and enthusiasm for introducing people to the world of cycling is very much a continuation of his life's work.

Starting as a youngster Owen was a pioneer of early American road racing and early mountain biking. At 16, Owen and his twin brother discovered Northern California's early road scene after riding their bikes from Ohio to San Francisco in order to live with their mother. From there Owen went on to race both nationally and in France. He became a cycling journalist covering both road and mountain bike competitions and became the first American to be invited into the Tour de France press caravan. Later in life, he authored several books on cycling including "Cylings Golden Age" and "An Uphill Battle."

I was only around for some of his accomplishments but in my lifetime, I never saw him more excited than when he had introduced a new person to cycling. "He's got the bug now," my dad would say with a twinkle in his eye. I too love introducing new people to the world of cycling but picturing my dad smiling with that twinkle in his eye definitely gives me a little extra motivation.

What We Ride

Both of our coaches are thrilled to be riding Ibis bikes! Ibis does a fantastic job of building bikes that offer the highest level of competitive performance without compromising on the amount of fun that their bikes are to ride.
