***If we need to cancel rides because of poor air quality, weather or other reasons, make up rides will be offered on weekends or during the following month.

They say that April showers bring May flowers and we are looking forward to a really nice May. We'll keep focusing on building up our on the bike handling skills, working on our ability to ride sustained uphills, making new friends and we’ll keep reminding our group to stop and smell the flowers.

We’re offering a pick up right after school at Wade Thomas and then meeting the rest of our group with Joy. We’re giving ourselves a couple hours to ride, with a Hidden Valley pick up at 5:45 and a Wade Thomas shuttle pick up at the Saunders lot of Archie Williams high at 6:00pm.

Before our rides, please go over your youngster’s bike with them and address any mechanical issues that may cause problems on the trail. Also, please help your student pack all of their cycling gear including their helmet, bike gloves, lots of food, and plenty of water. Light weight knee pads, elbow pads and protective eyewear are, also, recommended. For riders who are allergic to poison oak, a single use packet (or reusable small container) of Tecnu is another great thing to pack.

All parents of participating minors need to go to the parent portion of the CDC website and familiarize themselves with the available CDC concussion information. Concussions can and do happen during mountain biking. Sometimes symptoms will take hours or days to become apparent. It is important that we are all prepared. https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/pdfs/youthsports/parents_eng.pdf
