After many years of leading mountain bike summer camps for middle school and high school mountain bikers, this summer we are adding a camp for younger riders. This camp is designed for 1st through 4th grade girls who have good control of their bikes and some experience riding our local trails. Our camp will focus on building bike handling skills that will lead to safer mountain biking as we explore our beautiful trails.

During our camp, we will be riding from Fairfax or driving to our riding location, depending on the day. Locations will depend on weather as well as the ability of our riders but we hope to include, a lot of local single track, an epic summit, at least one trip out to the coast and a lot of stops for snacks or ice cream as we go.

To help ensure that your rider is able to enjoy our camp, we ask that all riders come with mountain bikes with two brakes, a full range of gears and knobby tires. Please go over your rider’s bike with them and address any mechanical issues that may cause problems on the trail. Help your student pack all of their cycling gear including their helmet, bike gloves, plenty of snacks, their lunch, and plenty of water. Light weight knee pads, elbow pads and protective eye wear are, also, recommended.

We ask any participant who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, having recently taken fever reducing medication or reporting symptoms that could come from Covid-19, to please follow our state Covid guidelines in planning their return to our group.

All parents of participating minors need to go to the parent portion of the CDC website and familiarize themselves with the available CDC concussion information. Concussions can and do happen during mountain biking. Sometimes symptoms will take hours or days to become apparent.
