May's Thursday after school rides from The Valley
Come join us as we explore the trails above the San Geronimo Valley. With some of the best trails in Marin, these rides give our middle school and advanced lower school riders a chance to explore and build their bicycle handling skills.
This month’s rides will go from 3:30pm to 5:30pm, giving us a long enough window of time to enjoy a great variety of surrounding trails. The Valley’s steeper narrower trails are great for keeping kids feeling engaged and challenged without riding at higher and more dangerous speeds.
Please go over your riders bike with them and address any mechanical issues that may cause problems on the trail. Also, please help your student pack all of their cycling gear including their helmet, bike gloves, a spare tube, lots of food and plenty of water. Also, I recommend a light wind beaker or rain jacket (when appropriate) that can be carried in a pocket. Light weight knee pads, elbow pads and protective eyewear are, also, recommended. For riders who are allergic to poison oak, a single use packet (or reusable small container) of Tecnu is another great thing to pack.
If you have a rider who is interested in trying mountain biking but may want to drop out, please reach out to me. Because of website and credit card fees, we are not able to offer full refunds.
All guardians of participating minors need to go to the parent portion of the CDC concussion webpage and familiarize themselves with the available CDC concussion information. Concussions can and do happen during mountain biking. Sometimes symptoms will take hours or days to become apparent. It is important that we are all prepared. https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/pdfs/youthsports/parents_eng.pdf
Ride Dates this session: Thursdays May 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th
Where: Meeting in front of The Loft beside the Lagunitas School Campus
*If we are forced to cancel rides due to poor air quality or cold rain, make up rides will be offered during the following month.
Thanks!
